There’s a saying “children can see magic because they look for it.”

I was 10 when horses cast their spell on me.

Almost four decades later they continue to captivate me. I love making photos of equines and showcasing the beautiful, unspoken bonds between them and their human partners as well as life at the barn. There is something so peaceful and comforting about life at the barn.

My photography training began with photography classes when I was a student at Fairfield University. During that time I was hired as an assistant to the campus photographer. I can still smell the film developer and stop bath I used to develop film in the dark room!

During my time as editor/photographer for the Norwalk Citizen newspaper and in my current position as Editor-in-Chief at Friends of Animals, where I document the plight of wild horses on federal public lands out West as well as other animal rights issues, I continue to hone my skills. I’m also a proud member of the Stamford Photography Club.

Perhaps my all-time favorite subjects are the horses who have been donated to and now live at New Canaan Mounted Troop, my home away from home, where I’ve been riding since 1993 when I was a member of the Fairfield University Equestrian Team. The horses there always remind me to be present and reflect back at me what I need to learn about myself, and for that I am eternally grateful.
